On Thursday June 19th at 7:30 pm, Polly Curtiss curator of the Watertown Historical Society Museum, will give a lecture on Modernist jewelry. The Modernist jewelry movement had its beginnings around 1940 and lasted until 1970. The jewelry was hand crafted and primarily made of silver with semi-precious gemstones. This group of artists created pieces that were highly unusual, and they still have the powers to startle and surprise. The jewelry they made is now being purchased by major museums and is highly collectible. Polly Curtiss is the owner of affordablevintagejewelry.com, a web site that specializes in vintage sterling silver jewelry. This event will take place at Walker Hall on 50 Deforest Street in Watertown, CT. After the lecture she will be doing jewelry appraisals, so please join us and bring a piece of antique or vintage jewelry. The suggested donation for a verbal appraisal will be $5.00 and will benefit the museum. This program is free and open to the public..
